Welcome. Champion Clubs is a club development initiative created by the City of Cockburn. It offers support and resources to local clubs so that they can become self-sustaining and create healthy, welcoming, and inclusive sporting environments.

For all club development enquiries, please contact the Club Development Officer on 08 9411 3444 or via email. You can forward this email to other club and committee members, but to subscribe they must sign-up through our website.

Subsidised Sports Trainer Course – Register Now!

The City of Cockburn, in partnership with Sports Medicine Australia, is proud to offer a subsidised Sports Trainer Course to help clubs address the growing need for qualified sports trainers.

📅 When: Monday 3 & Tuesday 4 February 2025 5:30pm - 9:30pm
📍 Where: Treeby Community & Sports Facility 
💰 Cost: $100, ($199 Subsidised by the City of Cockburn)


Eligibility:

  • Limited to 1 participant per club at this stage.
  • Maximum of 23 spots available, so don’t miss out!
  • City of Cockburn Clubs 
  • CPR & First Aid Certificates Required 

This workshop equips participants with essential skills in injury prevention, management, and recovery to keep athletes safe on and off the field.

Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund 

CSRFF grants from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries aim to increase participation in sport by assisting community groups to develop sport and recreation infrastructure.

The small grants round for projects from $7500 to $500,000 open on Monday 3 February 2025, for projects starting in the 2025-26 financial year.

You must contact the department to discuss your project in order to be eligible. You may also be required to obtain City endorsement for the project, as well as any relevant planning or building approvals, so discuss your project with Recreation Services at the earliest opportunity.

Cameron Heron has taken over Claudia Wells as Club Development officer. Cameron is passionate about supporting our local clubs and sporting communities to grow and thrive. With a focus on sustainability, collaboration, and innovation, He is looking forward to helping clubs access resources, improve processes, and create opportunities for success. Cameron is looking forward to working together with all clubs to build a vibrant and inclusive sports and recreation culture in our community.

Community Venues Team Update

Maintenance Enquires -Community Venue Maintenance Request Form- Please use this link to report any maintenance issues. Please provide as much information as possible so our team know location and issue.

Pegs - Clubs using pegs at Reserves should prioritise plastic pegs, available free from the City's administration building. If metal pegs are necessary, they must be painted in a highly visible colour, such as blue or orange, to ensure easy identification in grassy areas.

Kids Get Active - Cockburn ARC - Kids Get Active  - The Kids Get Active (KGA) school holiday program at Cockburn ARC offers a range of fun and inclusive sporting activities & games, that allows kids to make new friends in a supportive environment.

 

Sports equipment grants

The Sports Equipment Grant has been developed to provide financial assistance to clubs to purchase new or replace essential sports equipment. Conditions apply.

Junior sports travel assistance grant 

The Cockburn JSTA program helps local athletes aged 21 and under by providing financial assistance for travel to national or international competitions. Conditions apply.
