Dear CHAC Community,

Join CHAC and the Pirate Art Gallery for their Grand Fiesta Dia de Los Muertos kick-off on Nov. 4th at 1560 Teller St. from 5 pm-9 pm. This is the opening reception for the Dia de Los Muertos art show at CHAC Gallery and will run Oct. 19th to Nov. 19th. This is a magical exhibit where CHAC members hold space for community, remembrance, and love. Come celebrate with traditional foods, music, Aztec dancing, and a candle-lit processional. The curator this year is Shay Guerrero, please learn more about her in Featured Artist below.

CHAC is one of the original nonprofits in Colorado that helped nurture and establish Dia de Los Muertos in Denver. For over fifty years CHAC has celebrated Dia de Los Muertos and helped pave the way for the abundance of  Dia de Los Muertos celebrations state-wide. Recuerdos 2022: A Celebration of Community, is a community-wide celebration of Dia de Los Muertos that also includes several community-wide celebrations.

Brenda Gurule, the executive director of CHAC, said, “ This year is especially important for the  CHAC community. We have a new space on 40 West Arts Dist. at 1560 Teller and  it is fitting that we unite with our partners to show our solidarity  to  honor all those who have endured so many hardships and losses during the past two years .”

Gurule, said of CHAC and their partners, “We're committed to providing opportunities for all to remember and honor their loved ones. What we need to focus on this season is the tremendous effort it took to get through these difficult times and take time now to begin the process of healing.”

There are currently two Dia de Los Muertos exhibits up with our partner organizations. We are grateful and excited to partner with Brighton Armory and Northglenn Arts for Dia de Los Muertos. See the posters below for complete Dia de Los Muertos events and partnerships.
