Journeying through my walk of life, I have always felt a deep connection with the earth, the sacred tierra, the plants, the animals, the people. I am fascinated by the Indigenous people of the Americas, always wondering where they came from, what is their family history, what were their hardships and their love stories, what happened to all those customs and rituals they learned at an early age, yet were taken from them? My photography and jewelry designs begin with questions and ends with the telling of a story, images, and wearable art that I know will touch someone else’s soul as deeply as they have mine. I might not know what I am supposed to be doing as far as where my photography unfolds, I just want to do it! I want to tell the stories of years gone by and how our lives are today. The jewelry designing is all about storytelling as well, memories of places I’ve been, the colors of my cultura, those all come out in the unique, one-of-a-kind pieces I create. I identify often with our beloved Frida Kahlo when she said, “I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.”
Rob Yancey
Rob Yancey (El Guero) is an all-around artist. He is currently focused on metalsmithing and jewelry design, creating beautiful, modern, rustic sterling silver and semi-precious stone jewelry. Rob is also a sculptor who hand carves in wood creating Spanish Colonial art in the form of bultos and retablos, his art has a northern New Mexico influence and vibe to it. He also paints and makes Día de los Muertos style clay masks. Rob has won numerous awards for his art and is known to teach art classes to both children and adults. He was also the former owner of Arte de Taos from 2010 – 2012 in Taos, NM, and routinely does art demonstrations and donates his artwork to worthy causes and fundraisers.

CHAC Gallery & Cultural Center was founded in 1978 by a group of visual and performing artists. The organization was established as a place where Chicano/Latino artists were provided with a venue to explore visual and performance art and promote and preserve the Chicano/Latino culture through the expression of the arts.
CHAC is an inclusive community of creatives that are dedicated to preserving, showcasing, educating and reflecting the essence of Chicano/a/x, Latino/a/x and other multicultural/multiracial communities.
