| News Releases Salt Lake Cityâs youth population hit its lowest point in over a century in 2020 In 2020, Salt Lake Cityâs youth population hit its lowest point in over a century. A new report from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute shows that despite gaining 13,283 new residents overall between 2010 and 2020 and growing 7%, Salt Lake Cityâs under-18 population lost 4,933 residents, shrinking by 12% to 37,101. âThe under-5 population in Salt Lake City experienced the largest declines of any age group in the city in recent years,â said Heidi Prior, public policy analyst at the Gardner Institute and lead author of the report. âThe capital cityâs decreasing youth population is part of a much larger trend, mirroring declines experienced by many western cities and shifts observed in the state and county populations.â (Read More) 13-year-old brings home silver & bronze for Utah Salt Lake City native and para swimmer, Chloe Cederholm, has brought pride to her community by clinching the silver medal in the Womenâs 100m Backstroke and the bronze medal in the Womenâs 200m Individual Medley at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games as the youngest member of Team USA. Cederholm is a seventh grader at Olympus Junior High who turned thirteen two weeks ago. She has been swimming since she was four years old.
