YOUR GENEROSITY POWERING RESEARCH
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to improving the lives of people affected by cancer. With your generosity, we are proud to announce the funding of four innovative research projects through Research Ireland’s Enterprise Partnership Scheme. Your donations are helping to fuel pioneering discoveries that could transform cancer treatment and care.
Congratulations to: - Dr. Lucy Hayden – Investigating the reality of living with terminal cancer by examining peoples’ experiences and needs from diagnosis to end of life. By deepening our understanding of this journey, Lucy’s work aims to enhance the quality of care and support for people living with terminal illness. - Yingru Zhou – Developing a new drug delivery system for pancreatic cancer; one that can transport cancer-fighting medications more precisely and efficiently, potentially improving treatment outcomes and reducing side effects. - Luna Stockmann – Advancing targeted therapies for ovarian cancer, aiming to refine existing treatments so they are more effective and less invasive. - Dr. Aidan O’Dowling – Researching ways to predict patient outcomes in pancreatic cancer, which could help physicians tailor treatments to each patient’s unique situation, leading to better survival rates. Each of these projects explores a different critical aspect of cancer research, from enhancing treatment precision to understanding the profound personal impact of a cancer diagnosis.
Your donations have helped make these studies possible, opening new doors for breakthroughs that can save and transform lives.
We look forward to sharing the progress as they progress their research. Thank you again for your continued support.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE?
We have an exciting opportunity for people to take part in our Patient and Public Involvement Engagement (PPIE) panel to help shape the future of cancer research.
This panel is a group of people who want to make a difference to the lives of others. As a member, you’ll share your views to help us to shape the research we fund, while ensuring that we’re meeting the needs of people who will receive a cancer diagnosis in the future, and their families.
Together, we will ensure that the cancer research we fund is person-centered and responds to the needs of people with cancer. Your unique perspective and insights will improve our work.

Cervical Cancer Prevention Week ran from 20th – 26th of January, shining a vital spotlight on the importance of early detection and prevention of cervical cancer.
If you’re a woman aged 25 to 65, the most effective action you can take to protect yourself is to attend cervical screening when you're invited. This free test, provided by CervicalCheck, detects human papillomavirus (HPV) - the primary cause of most cervical cancers - long before it develops into something more serious.
Booking your screening is straightforward. If you’re due for your test, simply make an appointment with your GP or any women’s health clinic registered under Cervical Check. You can find a list of participating clinics on the HSE website. By staying up to date with your screenings, you not only safeguard your health but also take control of your well-being through early intervention.
It’s equally important to know the early signs and symptoms of cervical cancer so you can spot them as soon as possible.
Contact your GP if you experience: 🔸 any type of unusual bleeding from the vagina 🔸 vaginal spotting or unusual discharge 🔸 pain during sex 🔸 bleeding after sex 🔸 pain in your pelvis
Remember, never ignore symptoms, even if you’ve had a normal screening result recently. Treatment options and survival rates for cervical cancer continue to improve, especially when the disease is found early. So don’t wait for your next screening if you’re experiencing symptoms. Your health is your most valuable asset, and with regular screening and awareness of symptoms, you can help protect yourself against cervical cancer.
