Every year in March something special happens in Adelaide. Sure we have the Adelaide Festival and Adelaide Fringe but amongst all of the colour and fun that is our Festival time, the something special I’m talking about is the celebration of International Women's Day on Monday 8 March. The ABC is recognising the achievements of women Australia-wide with female presenters taking the lead on ABC Radio, ABC TV and ABC News.
In the early hours of the first Friday each March, over two thousand people with a united purpose converge at the Convention Centre in the biggest IWD Breakfast event in the country. It’s been my privilege to MC this spirited and inspiring event for many years now.
This year we have to do things differently and I’m looking forward to welcoming you to the IWD virtual Breakfast at 9am tomorrow 5 March. Senator Penny Wong will again be hosting us while guest speaker Natasha Stott Despoja will speak to the theme Women in Leadership – a theme she has lived and breathed through her entire public life as a politician, diplomat and author.
Straight after, ABC Radio Adelaide Breakfast presenter Ali Clarke will sit down with Natasha Stott Despoja in a special Instagram LIVE stream interview from 10.30am, so have your questions ready!

| Approval has been granted to demolish and replace Victor Harbor's heritage causeway despite concerns that construction works will drive the region's whales away.
