Exhibition Illumination 2020 Opening Friday, November 20, 10 AM-7:30 PM, with awards announced after 5 PM Live music by Stevenson Stohl Suzuki Studio Visit CAM for the sixth year of Illumination, an exhibition of artist-made lanterns.Three awards, picked by a panel of community judges, will be announced after 5 PM. This year’s judges include Clifford D. Barnett, Sr. (Wilmington City Council), Joe Conway (Dir. Health Equity, Human Experience, & Interpreter Services, New Hanover Regional Medical Center), Amy Grant (artist and owner Art in Bloom gallery), Brandon Guthrie (Dean of Arts and Humanities at Cape Fear Community College), Deborah Dicks Maxwell (District 16 Director, NC NAACP), Lorraine Perry (Healing Arts Advocate), Fidias Reyes (Director of Engagement UNCW Presents), and Susie Sewell (Executive Director of the Camp Schreiber Foundation and Co-founder of thoughtbox). Virtual Art Conversations Jef Lambdin and Anne Brennan on Clyde Jones Wednesday, November 18, 6 PM via Zoom | Join us for a conversation with Jef Lamdin and Anne Brennan. Born in 1938, Clyde Jones didn’t start to make art until after an injury in 1982. His critters have traveled the world. In 1991, Mikhail Baryshnikov arrived at his door to purchase one, and Clyde, who didn’t sell his work, politely refused. Jef and Anne have been friends with Clyde for years. Hear stories of their friendship and ask them questions about Clyde’s life, his art, and his inspiration. | |

Clyde's Holiday by the Sea! Saturday, November 21, 10 AM-12 PM $20 In-Person and At-Home; Pre-registration required | Take part in CAM’s 11th Annual Clyde's Holiday by the Sea, a holiday community art installation. Register to join us in person on Saturday, November 21st, or purchase an art kit anytime between 11/4 and 11/21 online and participate from home! Pick up your Critter Kit beginning November 4th anytime during regular CAM hours at the front desk (Tuesday – Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM, Thursdays 10 AM to 8 PM). You must return your finished Critter by Saturday, November 21st for it to be added to the installation. You can also join us for an outdoor, socially distanced Critter Creation event on Saturday, November 21st from 10 AM to 12 PM. Pre-register for a half hour spot. Registration includes a designated area to work, a Critter Kit, a Clyde Critter, and a pack of wipes. Music Bird Studios provides interactive entertainment! Make music, dance and move with an animal theme. Socially distant mats will be provided so you can have silly, socially distanced fun. The Wilmington Bluegrass Instructor Band is a band formed from the instructors of the new Wilmington Bluegrass School. Aiming to get more people, young and old, playing bluegrass music, the Wilmington Bluegrass School offers individual lessons (currently virtual) and regularly occurring jams. At CAM on Saturday they will be performing some bluegrass classics with a full four piece band! | |
Gentle Yoga at CAM November 25 & December 9 at 9 AM This is an all-level one-hour class, ideally suited for new participants of all ages. With experienced yoga instructor Steve Unger, practitioners will explore pranayama breathing, basic yoga movements, and alignment through a comfortable flow-oriented session. It will include conscious relaxation and restorative poses. Please bring your own yoga mat, along with towel and pillow. We will have some blocks and straps available. There is ample space for social distancing and masks will be required. No specific charge for these special donation-based events with proceeds donated to Museum School scholarships. | |
