Join us November 16 and be the first to see Close to Home. This is the largest exhibition of CAM's permanent collection ever mounted. It is celebration of CAM’s collection featuring works by artists with a connection to our state, our region, our home. Join us as we explore images of people and places that evoke the varied spirit of our community.

Beloved familiar works are joined by hidden treasures in a showcase of artistic voices; a collective search for the meaning of home. Features work by Josef Albers, Romare Bearden, Mary Cassatt, Diego Camposeco, Elisabeth Chant, Minnie Evans, Maud Gatewood, Claude Howell, Hiroshi Sueyoshi, and others.

Unlike the city lights glowing beneath the star scattered sky of American Artist Ed Ruscha’s Any Town in the USA, the Cameron Art Museum (CAM) resides in Wilmington, NC, as the premiere modern and contemporary art museum in southeastern North Carolina. Founded in 1962 as St. John’s Museum of Art, CAM provides a cultural gathering place that enriches the lives of museum visitors and the community through high-quality exhibitions, lifelong learning in the arts, dynamic public programs, and stewardship and interpretation of the collection.

A regional art museum without an umbrella institution, CAM relies on the generosity of its community of donors to serve over 70,000 visitors each year.

CAM fosters engagement and social cohesion, preserves the artistic legacy of the region, is an economic driver, provides educational programs and services, and ultimately contributes to a sense of place and identity for all its visitors.
