The Most Festive Scrooge Ever Old Vic Artistic Director Matthew Warchus’ acclaimed version of A Christmas Carol is back, and with more festive cheer than ever. The smash-hit production is a dazzling retelling of the Dickens classic, complete with music, mince pies, carols and immersive staging.
Many great actors have tried their hand at Scrooge, but The Old Vic has struck gold with Owen Teale. The versatile star of Game of Thrones and Line of Duty is made for the role. He's a master of the stony glare, but can also conjure the hearty chuckles of the reformed miser. We can't wait to see his take on this timeless character.
A Christmas Carol, adapted for the stage by the legendary Jack Thorne, has won multiple awards and five-star reviews. The show is staged in the round, and walkways take the actors out among the stalls. It's immersive. It's interactive. And don't be surprised if the actors offer you a mince pie!
Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol is the ultimate redemption story. It has everything: ghosts, time travel, festive cheer, endlessly quotable one-liners and a big dollop of London. The Old Vic's unique staging of the story is an annual tradition of Christmases past, present and yet to come. Image: The Old Vic |

Support A Good Cause A Christmas Carol reminds us to turn our gaze outwards and help those around us, to be charitable and generous. To that end, The Old Vic is lending a hand to City Harvest, a food redistribution charity that provides 1.2 million meals a month. You can support the cause via bucket collections, text to donate and online donations at the end of the performance. |
