Friend: The Colorado Court of Appeals has ruled against cake artist Jack Phillips. Again.
Now, Jack is facing more time in court. More time away from the cake shop he built and doing what he loves. More time in the spotlight facing scrutiny. And more time standing up for the freedom to say what he believes without fearing government punishment.
All because the government is forcing him to celebrate a gender "transition."
We appealed this decision to the Colorado Supreme Court. And we need your help to protect Jackâs right to live and speak the truth.
Whatâs happened to Jack is a tale of intoleranceâthe intolerance of radical activists targeting, harassing, and punishing those who disagree with their beliefs.
Itâs amazing that after more than ten years, Jack is still fighting for his right to speak freely. You might remember that at the beginning of his journey, Jack was targeted because he cannot, in good conscience, create a custom cake celebrating a view of marriage against his faith. Jack cannot violate his conscienceâand he shouldnât be forced to. No American should.
Then, after two wins, including one win at the U.S. Supreme Court, attacks on Jack still didnât stop. He continues to be harassed. A Colorado trial court punished him for not designing a cake that would celebrate a gender transition. Then an appeals court affirmed that decision earlier this year. ADF attorneys appealed this decision to the Colorado Supreme Court.
The request for this cake came from an activist attorney who said, under oath, the attorney wanted to "[c]orrect the errors of [Jackâs] thinking."
Yet, Colorado has now ruled in favor of this attorney, against Jackâand you.
If Jackâs right to speak freely isnât protected, your right to speak freely is also under threat. This is a crucial moment for Jack and for every American.
