The Front Page: Giddy over Strain verdict, parades are on, first look at Donald Link's new restaurant

By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor

'HERO INSTEAD OF ZERO': Five men accused Jack Strain of sexually molesting them when they were boys, years before he became St. Tammany Parish's sheriff. With Strain now guilty of all charges, the one with the most emotional testimony spoke out Tuesday, saying he was giddy with joy. The newly convicted Strain, meanwhile, has been moved to the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center in Davant, to enhance his own safety and to avoid allegations of special treatment at the Covington jail he once ran, authorities said.

GET YOUR LADDER READY: In the strongest statement to date during the second year of the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration said Tuesday that “barring some completely catastrophic change in the numbers, Mardi Gras is happening” in 2022. That all but signals that parades are a go, after they were forbidden this year.

DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE: One of New Orleans' most successful chefs, Donald Link, gave us a sneak preview of his new restaurant - and the menu - inside the Four Seasons hotel. Chemin à la Mer, French for path to the sea, mixes influences of vintage Creole, modern French and a dash of the islands.
