Jarden has lured Matt Wilson from Jefferies as its head of financials research, six months after Kieren Chidgey resigned from the role.

Wilson joins from Jefferies, where he had headed research on banks, and will start at Jarden on February 10. His appointment was announced on Thursday afternoon in a staff memo signed by Jarden’s research boss Ben Gilbert and head of institutional equities John Spencer.

Wilson will be based in Melbourne and joins Jarden after its equity capital markets team ended 2024 on the No.5 spot on the league tables.

US private equity giant The Carlyle Group has agreed terms to acquire a majority stake in South Australia’s 500MWh Bungama battery energy storage system, as part of a circa $200 million financing package that also includes an industry-first debt package.

The sharemarket recorded its second consecutive day of gains on Thursday, as renewed optimism sparked a rally in the Australian lenders that pushed Commonwealth Bank to a fresh record.
