While standing up for yourself might be something that at times may feel awkward, being able to articulate what you want might enhance your feelings of independence and autonomy from others. Knowing what you need and how to get it could make it easier for you to articulate your wishes to those around you. If you do have an issue that needs to be resolved today, you might consider writing down your ideas before meeting with them. Making certain that they are true for you, for connection to your truth, will give you courage. Preparing your ideas beforehand may help you sort out what you truly feel as well as the reasons behind your feelings. Speaking our truth lets us do what is right for us. For many of us it is easy to sublimate our desires in order to keep things calm and harmonious. Letting others know what we need--even if it is uncomfortable--means that we are being true to what is right for us. If we were to conceal this truth, it would only makes matters worse for we would not be acting honestly. When we are true to what we feel, we liberate ourselves from the things we feel we have to hide and make way for more open interactions in our relationships.
