FORECAST IN DETAIL

The deep winter cold of the last two weekends is gone for this one, but it’s not quite picture-perfect either. Today is probably the pick of the two days despite mostly cloudy conditions and the risk of late-day showers. I don’t want to make tomorrow sound terrible, as it’s not, but winds are back with cooler temperatures. Slight warming is expected as we start the workweek.

Today (Saturday): Clouds are much more common than sun. We might see a few extended breaks if we’re lucky. Most of the rain from the overnight wave is done, but we can’t rule out a few passing showers. Highs are mostly in the near-50 to mid-50s zone. Perhaps a little warmer if we see extended sunshine. Winds blow around 5 to 10 mph. Another round of showers is possible as we head into and through the evening, but it may not happen and they could be widely scattered. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: There’s a risk of showers during the evening, and if any precipitation sticks around into the night, it could change over to snow. This is likely of the “conversational” nature if it happens. That means no sticking or major travel concerns. Lows eventually dip to near freezing in the coldest spots to the upper 30s or even 40 in the city. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Sunday): Behind a developing ocean storm, cooler air flows back into the area on north winds. It’s not nearly as cold as what we went through in the past week or two, and highs still rise to the upper 40s and lower 50s. Gusty winds out of the north, sustained around 10 to 15 mph, add a bit of a chill. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Skies trend clearer and winds turn calmer. It’s a seasonably cool one as lows range from near freezing to near 40. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Temperatures warm again to start the workweek on Monday. This pattern is rather cloudy, but we should see a break in that for much of the day. Skies start off quite sunny, but some increase in clouds is likely by afternoon. Highs are mainly in the near-60 range, although it could be a little cooler well north and a little warmer to the south. Confidence: Medium

Shower odds pick back up Monday night, and that risk may last into Tuesday. Coming off lows in the 40s, it’s another seasonably mild day with highs in the mid-50s to near 60. Clouds are numerous, but the main rain risk should stay south of our area. We’ll need to watch that as we close in, though. Confidence: Medium
