This time, though, calm conditions look to prevail across the vast majority of the nation, with no significant winter storms on the immediate horizon. Locally, we’ll see comfortable temperatures over the next several days, with perhaps a few rain showers this weekend. Today (Wednesday): Morning 20s and 30s are appropriately chilly on this first day of winter. But as the day progresses, a breeze from the west-southwest gives temperatures a bit of a boost. Afternoon highs reach the mid- to upper 40s under partly sunny skies, with light winds, around 5-10 mph. Confidence: High Tonight: Partly cloudy evening skies may turn mostly cloudy overnight. Meanwhile, a light wind from the south helps us stay a bit warmer than during recent nights, with lows settling near 30 to the mid-30s.
