FORECAST IN DETAIL

Spring’s arrival today is met with springlike weather, as temperatures make a run toward 60 degrees. It’s nice and mild again Tuesday before a strong cold front brings back a winterlike chill Wednesday and Thursday. But Friday into the weekend, spring re-takes control.

Today (Monday): Lots of sunshine today helps temperatures rebound nicely after the chilly start. Afternoon highs should work well into the 50s or even touch 60 degrees. Winds are light from the northwest, at around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds increase this evening and a few showers are possible, mainly after midnight. Lows range from 40-45. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Our eastern areas may see a lingering shower early, but cloudy skies should gradually become partly sunny as the morning wears on. High should manage 60 degrees, and perhaps even a few degrees higher. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Clouds move in during the evening and showers are possible overnight, especially in our southern areas. A back-door cold front is dropping into the region from the north, and a weak area of low pressure will form along it. Lows range from 35-40 north to south. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Cold, high pressure builds over the region Wednesday and Thursday, and temperatures are well below normal. Wednesday’s partly sunny and windy with highs only in the low-to-mid 40s. At night, temperatures drop in the 20s area-wide. By Thursday, winds relax but highs are again stuck in the mid-40s despite ample sunshine.  Confidence: Medium-High

Friday starts off chilly, but the cold air starts to erode as a warm front pushes in from the south. A shower is possible during the day, but temperatures are milder — reaching the 50s. Mostly cloudy Friday night with temperatures in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

Saturday is looking like the pick of the weekend. Winds from the south draw up very mild air and highs should reach the 60s, at least, and have a good chance to break through into the 70s.  But a cold front does move into the region Sunday, introducing the chance of showers. Temperatures are probably a little cooler, with highs 60-65. Confidence: Medium
