FORECAST IN DETAIL

The first weekend of February is going out like a lamb, with no snow (a familiar theme this winter) and no significant storms of note. Temperatures trend upward over the next few days, with the milder air accompanied by the possibility of occasional showers Monday night into Wednesday.

Today (Sunday): It’s mostly gray this morning and still on the chilly side, as temperatures rise through the 30s. Fortunately, the clouds should break apart toward midday and we’ll see a partly sunny afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s to low 50s are a modest bargain for early February. Winds are out of the south-southwest around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: You’ll have no problem getting to your Super Bowl party, with dry weather and partly cloudy skies. Evening readings drop back into the 30s, with wing- and chip-dipping activities probably occurring inside at room temperature. Overnight lows in the 29-35 range are several degrees above average, with a light wind from the west.  Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Uneventful again. Partly to mostly sunny is the main headline, along with slightly warmer highs reaching the low-to-mid-50s. Winds remain light and blow from the south. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: An approaching warm front thickens the plot in the form of increasing evening clouds, and a chance of light showers mainly after midnight. The clouds, and a continued light wind from the south, keep lows relatively mild in the 40-45 range. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Tuesday shouldn’t be a washout, but a few rounds of showers are likely as a warm front lifts across the area. A surge of milder air from the south should help push highs to the upper 50s to mid-60s despite mostly cloudy skies.  Confidence: Medium

Another batch of showers may cross the region Wednesday morning in association with a cold front, but the balance of the day should be partly sunny. We remain mild with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s, although an increasing afternoon breeze may make it feel cooler. Confidence: Medium
