One item per week will be auctioned. Essential ServicesCancer patients will continue to stay at some of our CANSA Care Homes (Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Richards Bay and one in Cape Town at Tygerberg hospital) with protective measures and strict infection procedures and while the public hospitals are open and receiving patients. CANSA Care Homes cater for patients receiving cancer treatment with accommodation, transport and meals. In the other provinces, plans have been made for critical patients to be admitted full time at specific hospitals or treatment centres. CANSA’s TLC Lodges for children and families affected by cancer in Pretoria and Polokwane will also remain operating with protective measures and support via phone and online platforms. #CANSACareHomes We will continue to assist stoma and ostomy patients with orders and deliveries that will be processed once a week on Thursdays. Patients and survivors can email [email protected] or [email protected] or WhatsApp 078 942 9290. #CANSAstoma Our staff and volunteers will also continue to support patients online through our website, social media support groups and platforms during the lockdown period and have provided patients with information they need to know to lower their risk for COVID-19. A list of staff on call is available on the website should patients require counselling or advice. Auction Item 2CANSA would like to thank local artist, Jordan-Beth Erlank, for donating an acrylic on canvas entitled 'Sunflowers'. Bidders can place their bid with Munnik Marais email: [email protected] by 15 April 2020. Says Jordan, "My name is Jordan-Beth Erlank and I am going donate this painting 'Sunflowers'. Now the reason I got into this was because I looked at the story of a husband who had lost his wife to cancer and to commemorate her life he planted sunflowers and I thought it was such a beautiful thing. It means so much to me doing this right now because recently I lost somebody who died of cancer. I am really just hoping that this can at least just give hope to those who have cancer."
