Beyond Venture: 2024 LAVCA Women Investors in Private Capital

Building on its longstanding annual lists of Top and Emerging Women Investors in Latin American Tech, LAVCA is accepting nominations for the 2025 lists of Top & Emerging Women Investors in Private Capital, now considering women across all asset classes.

Access the form to nominate senior-, mid- and junior-level female investment professionals deploying capital from a GP, as well as women angel investors investing in 3+ LatAm tech startups a year.

GP nominees must actively lead or participate within the investment team at their firms in order to be eligible for consideration.

Nominations close Friday, 20 November.

▸ DEBT | albo, a Mexican challenger bank, secured a USD60m credit line from SixPoint Capital.

▸ HEALTHTECH | IDC Ventures led a USD25m Series B for Osigu, a Colombia-based healthcare claims management platform, with participation from Visa.

▸ HEALTHTECH | CZI, the investment arm of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, invested in Beep Saúde, a Brazilian at-home laboratory test and home care platform.

▸ AGTECH | ALIVE Ventures led a USD7.4m equity and debt round for Agricapital, a Colombian agricultural financing platform, with participation from Bancolombia, COMFAMA, IDB Lab, Alphamundi and undisclosed investors.

▸ OxPay, a Brazilian financial solutions platform for the road transportation sector, raised ~USD7m from SRM Ventures.

▸ AppWorks Ventures and Wintermute Ventures led a USD7m seed round for Karpatkey, an Argentina-based treasury management provider for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).

▸ LOGISTICS | FEMSA Ventures led a USD5.5m round for Loads, a Chilean logistics platform for food importers, with follow-on from Alaya Capital.

▸ Karün, a Chilean recycled eyewear manufacturer, raised USD5m from WildSur and Petra.

▸ PROPTECH | Caravela Capital led a ~USD3.8m seed round for CredAluga, a Brazilian rental payment platform, with participation from Honey Island Capital, Norte Ventures, Terracotta Ventures and FJ Labs.

▸ MAYA Capital and Better Tomorrow Ventures co-led a ~USD2.6m round for Stay, a Brazilian corporate pension plan provider, with participation from 17Sigma, Grão, Ralicap, Sequoia’s scout fund, and angels Aaron Schumm (Vestwell), Roger Lee (Human Interest) and others. undisclosed investors.

▸ HRTECH | Katalista, a Brazilian professional development resource platform, raised ~USD95k from the WOW Accelerator.

▸ elea led an undisclosed seed round for Rutopía, a sustainable tourism platform connecting travelers with indigenous communities, with participation from ATTA Impact Capital and Boosting Opportunities Fund.

Exits

▸ EXIT | KPTL exited Augen, a Brazilian sanitation infrastructure solutions provider, through a sale to Biosolvit, a Brazilian biotechnology company.

▸ M&A | CAR Group, an Australian holding company that owns Chileautos, acquired a 50.1% stake in Autofact, for USD25m.

News

▸ Nubank entered the telecom market with the launch of NuCel, its first mobile phone service in Brazil.

▸ DELIVERY | Mexican grocery delivery platform Jüsto partnered with Amazon to offer its delivery service on Amazon Mexico’s website.

▸ Merce do Bairro, a Brazilian same-day delivery wholesale marketplace for SMEs, wound down operations.

▸ SOCIAL | Brazil's Collective Defense Institute, a consumer rights group, filed two lawsuits demanding ~$525m from the Brazilian units of Meta, TikTok, and Kwai for failing to create mechanisms to prevent indiscriminate use of their platforms by minors.

▸ Fabricio Biosi, Prosus newly appointed CEO, aims to 2x the size of the HoldCo to USD168b in four years.

▸ DRONES | WIRED reviews the creative use of drone tech in Mexico during a time of more-than-unfortunate circumstances in How Researchers Are Using Geospatial Technology to Uncover Mexico Clandestine Graves.

▸ CENTRAL AMERICA | Costa Rica’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MICITT) partnered with the Korean government to launch a digital wallet to enable Costa Rican citizens to transact and verify their tax status.

▸ Congrats to Francisco Alvarez-Demalde of Riverwood Capital and João Vitor Menin of Inter&Co for receiving the Council of the America’s 2024 Bravo Business Awards.

▸ KASZEK will host office hours in São Paulo on 26 November for founders early on their startup journey looking for feedback. Registration is now open.
