Hey John,

Sometimes it’s hard to see beyond the classical ideas of Christ. The Christ you were taught about as a child. When you picture Christ what does he look like? Is he a he?

In 2012 I drew my first Image of Christ. It was inspired by the theological idea that the Spirit of Christ is manifested in the reconciliation of all things - and people. I wanted to challenge the idea of the typical straight white male Jesus we see in traditional art. I wanted people to look at my drawings of Christ and see themselves. I wanted to provide healing. 18 images of Christ, 16 of which I’ve assembled into a Christ Collage print that you can see in my shop!

This one is “Let Them Eat Cake” which I drew when a bakery refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Cakes are meant to be shared like love is.

Let them eat cake, no matter who they love.

Let Them Eat Cake

I’m so proud of this series and I love the conversations it starts. See on my Instagram how “Let Them Eat Cake” helped someone see that Jesus loves him as he is.

Much love my friend,

David
