Good morning and happy Tuesday. Here are some of the day's top headlines. Jeff Landry is backing a bill that would grant him the power to appoint the chairs of Louisiana’s five higher education boards, a move that would inject politics more overtly into who oversees the state’s colleges and universities. Opponents say legislators should keep the current structure, with one calling the proposal "disgraceful" and "totally wrong." Tyler Bridges has the details. Interstate shooting: Authorities are still piecing together details surrounding a Saturday afternoon shooting on Interstate 10 in Metairie that left a Baton Rouge man wounded, the first interstate shooting in the metro area since February. Here's what we know so far. Thanks for reading, and check out all the latest news, sports and entertainment coverage from The Times-Picayune. Kasey |
