Cable news ratings; Ruhle's big year at the 11th hour; Owens wants to punch Zelensky 'in the face'

MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle has helmed The 11th Hour for one year now, successfully putting her mark on the timeslot and consistently beating out her CNN competition.
Ruhle, who took over for Brian Williams in March 2022, bears the responsibility of debriefing her viewers on the day's political news, yet has managed to make the show her own.
Using her background in finance, Ruhle's journalism often "follows the money," as she told the Hollywood Reporter in a profile ahead of the anniversary.
She delivered impressive reporting on FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried and on the Norfolk Southern train derailment in Ohio, and in both cases, shined a light on the ties between finance, politics, and power.
While Fox News’ Gutfeld remains cable's top show at 11 p.m., Ruhle consistently beats CNN in the same timeslot, and in February, more than doubled the network in total viewers.
Throughout the year, Ruhle stayed true to the hour's traditionally political focus, while incorporating her finance beat.

Right-wing radio host Candace Owens played a very misleading clip of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on her Daily Wire show this Thursday and later revealed her desire to punch him "in the face."
Owens played a clip of Zelensky warning the United States against decreasing funding and support for Ukraine, as it could lead to Russia's victory in NATO member states, porentially forcing American children into war.
"I can’t even tell you how much, oof, I harbor for him," Owens said after airing the clip without context.
She later scoffed at Congress members who have shown their support for Ukraine throughout the brutal war. claiming they're the reason Zelensky is "feeling bold."
She then accused Zelensky of threatening "consequences" against the U.S., yet failed to note that Zelensky was directly referencing NATO’s Article 5 mutual defense pact.
Newsweek and other publications later deemed the clip "misleading," noting that Zelensky was grateful for American support and posed his statement as a hypothetical on the ongoing war.
