Update on the Lockdown As advised by the WA Premier there is a five-day lockdown in Perth, Peel and the South West until 6pm, Friday 5 February 2021. This includes the City of Cockburn. The closures are necessary to protect the community, especially our most vulnerable. What services & facilities have CLOSED? All City facilities will be closed this week, until further notice: Administration Building/ Reception Cockburn ARC Cockburn Seniors Centre Libraries Cockburn Youth Centre Bibra Lake Operations Centre Port Coogee Marina Services Office. Playgrounds and outdoor recreation spaces/ facilities In-line with the lockdown announcement, the following public facilities are closed until further notice: All playgrounds and water play areas Community and sporting facilities, sporting grounds and public open space used for organised sporting activities Dog parks Skate parks and pump tracks Exercise equipment Barbecues and drink fountains Public toilets. Henderson Waste Recovery Park The Henderson Waste Recovery Park (HWRP) will not accept domestic deliveries and will only be open to commercial customers. The Reuse Shop at HWRP will stay closed until further notice. Events and workshops Community Concert Cancelled The City has cancelled its annual Cockburn Central community concert, scheduled for Saturday 6 February as it does not believe it is prudent to stage the event, even if the lockdown has ended, due to large audience numbers. Other events and workshops Most events and workshops scheduled for this week, including Saturday 6 February have been cancelled or postponed. Annual General Meeting of Electors Postponed The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Electors scheduled for Tuesday, 2 February 2021 is postponed until further notice. Services & facilities still OPERATING Bins, verge and junk collections Parks and beaches - residents can only use parks and beaches within 5km of their homes, in groups of two and wearing masks at all times Manning Park stairs Cockburn Care – in-home services will continue, except for social club activities Family and Community Services – financial counselling and parenting services will operate via telephone and online. In-person appointments, face to face groups and workshops will be postponed/cancelled In-home Childcare/Family Day Care – independent contractor employees who are essential workers and will choose to either close or operate within State Government health regulations. Any further changes to the operation of City's facilities', community services or events will be detailed on the City’s website, eNews and social media. SafeWA App use extended It is mandatory for even more businesses and venues to maintain a contact register by collecting contact details of patrons attending their premises, including customers, staff, contractors and visitors. Due to the current lockdown, the expansion of this system to additional businesses has been brought forward to 6am Tuesday 2 February 2021. Additional businesses include: Retail venues Certain types of commercial transport Takeaway services Certain outdoor functions and gatherings Visitors at all WA private and public hospitals See more details here. To assist businesses, the WA Government has developed a free app, SafeWA, which is a digital contact register system. SafeWA is an efficient and safe way to record patron and visitor contact details where they can check-in using the app. The use of this app is not mandatory, but it is encouraged. |

FREE small business financial counselling The City of Cockburn has received State Government funding for a Small Business Financial Counsellor to provide free, confidential support to businesses with an ABN and less than 100 employees, experiencing financial difficulty. If you are concerned about your businesses viability given the current lockdown arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact this free and valuable service. Small Business Financial Counsellors are qualified professionals who assist with independent information, advice, support, and referral. How the service can help your business Negotiate on your behalf with creditors, such as banks or finance companies Accessing dispute resolution services, such as the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (if available to the small business) Provide information about the insolvency process for companies Help understanding and organising business and financial records Developing budgets and money plans for an individual or a high-level cash flow for a business Providing information about understanding rights and accessing legal help Providing information about grants and concession frameworks Developing strategies to manage short term and long term financial difficulties Understanding the points where business and personal assets and liabilities can become intertwined and explaining the implications of this in relation to debts. FREE customised business support The City of Cockburn has partnered with Business Foundations to provide three hours of FREE tailored one-on-one support to businesses to identify their key risks and opportunities to survive in 2021. The sessions will include: Financial analysis Organisational design and workforce planning Business planning and design Supply chain diversification and management Tactical sales and marketing General support for any operational business issues. Grants of up to $5K for businesses in Cockburn The City of Cockburn is launching our inaugural Grants to Support Local Economic Development in the new year. The grants are up to $5,000 and are open to Cockburn based small to medium businesses. What are the application categories: Support for technology, online and e-commerce activities Upgrades or improvements to shopfronts and business facades Promotion of innovation to support business growth or start-ups Assistance with COVID-19 recovery. Applications will be online, and we will be notifying everyone via email when they open. |
