1. Implications derived from the extension of the sanitary emergency.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social) ordered the extension of the sanitary emergency declared by COVID-19 until November 30, 2020. Additionally, it delivered recommendations and established, among others, the following measures: (i) prohibit public or private events involving the attendance of more than 50 people; and (ii) recommend that individuals over 70 years of age should preventively isolate themselves.

2. Biosecurity protocol for the tourism sector is a new milestone for its reactivation.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social) issued the biosecurity protocol for the activities of tour operators. This regulation is complementary to the general biosecurity guidelines in Resolution 666 of 2020, and the surveillance of its compliance will correspond to the municipal or district entity where the establishment carrying out that activity is located. 

3. Guidelines for the operation of judicial offices.

As of September 1st, the public's attendance to judicial offices is restricted, and instead, the services will continue to be provided through the electronic channels provided for such purpose.

In response to the institutional capacity and the need to protect the health of judicial officials, lawyers and users of the Judicial Branch, the operational conditions have been gradually adapted. Accordingly, the Superior Council of the Judiciary has indicated as a general rule that judicial officials work under the scheme of non-presential work, at home or at a distance, and has reiterated that when it is necessary to do so in person, a maximum of 20% of the servants will do so.

Consequently, the Superior Council of the Judiciary delivered the instructions for the provision of the service in all the judicial offices of the country, as of September 1st, which contemplates the prohibition of the public's attendance, as a general rule, and instead, the services will continue to be provided through the electronic channels provided for such purpose.
