Our new 2023 initiative, Poetry Alive, bringing teachers to the Fairfax Juvenile Detention Center to introduce young writers to contemporary poets, is only the beginning of our work building stronger, more cohesive community through the powers of poetry in all its forms.
Next year, we are adding new essays to our series What Sparks Poetry: Building Community, spotlighting connections between our work, as poets, on the page, and our work in the community. We will also add new search functions to What Sparks Poetry, making it even more accessible to teachers and students around the world as a free educational resource.
