Buenos Aires 2018 - Media advisory Buenos Aires will be alive with the Olympic spirit this month with several events taking place: the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 (6 to 18 October); the first ever Olympism in Action Forum (5-6 October); and the IOC Executive Board meeting and the 133rd IOC Session (3-4 and 8-9 October). For those who are travelling to Buenos Aires, and for those who will be reporting on the events remotely, you will find below some essential information for your coverage of those different events. 1. AHEAD OF THE YOG The meetings of the IOC Executive Board and IOC Session will take place at the Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel - Macacha Güemes 351, C1106BKG CABA, Argentina A) IOC Executive Board meeting 3 and 4 October 2018 and IOC Session 8 and 9 October 2018 Schedule Please click here to see the programme of the IOC Executive Board and the 133rd IOC Session. Note that all times are subject to change. Media representatives who will not be in Buenos Aires will have the possibility of watching all the press briefings and press conferences of these events live on YouTube. Access Your Games accreditation will allow you to enter the Hilton Hotel. Media Working Room A media working room has been set up at the Hilton Hotel. It is located on the second floor and will be equipped with free wireless internet access. The Executive Board meeting is closed to media. The proceedings of the IOC Session will be available via closed circuit TV at the MPC, IBC and in the media working room at the Hilton Hotel, as well as on YouTube. Photo opportunities Photo opportunities will be organized for photographers and camera operators only. The meeting point will be outside the Media Working Room at 8.45 a.m. on 3 and 4 October. During the IOC Session, filming positions are available during the proceedings. Photographers and camera operators will be requested to stand on the platform installed at the back of the room at all times. The meeting point will be outside the Media Working room to pick up an armband for ENG camera operators and photographers to enter the IOC Session room. It will be on first-come, first-serve basis and one armband per media organisation. Mixed zone A Mixed zone will be set up outside the IOC Session room. B) Olympism in Action Forum The Olympism in Action Forum will take place on 5 and 6 October at the CECBA Convention Centre (add address). This is a new event organised by the IOC that will bring together the entire Olympic Movement with the general public to address the most important issues related to sport and society and discuss how the values of Olympism and sport can effectively work as a catalyst for a better world. Access Your Youth Olympic Games accreditation will allow you to enter the CECBA Convention Centre. Media Working Room A media working room has been set up at the Convention Centre. It is located on the first floor and will be equipped with free wireless internet access. The proceedings of the plenary sessions will be available through CCTV and live on YouTube. Media opportunities The media will have access to the plenary sessions. The breakout sessions will be open to the media; however, some sessions will be considered as high demand and media access will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Stand up positions for interviews will be available outside the plenary session sin the marketplace. The media will have access to all coffee and lunch breaks. No IOC press conferences will be organised around the Olympism in Action Forum. 2. GAMES-TIME MEDIA EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES Press conferences: Two IOC press conferences will take place during the Games at the Hilton Hotel: 6 October at 3 p.m. (local time): Opening press conference with IOC President Thomas Bach 18 October at 11 a.m. (local time): Closing press conference with IOC President Thomas Bach We will keep you updated about further media events that will be organised on-site. A press conference with the President of the Buenos Aires 2018 Organising Committee will be held on 4 October at 11 a.m. at the MPC followed by a lunch provided by BAYOGOC. A media briefing for accredited media will be held at 2.15 p.m. on 4 October at the MPC. At this meeting, Buenos Aires 2018 and IOC Media Operations will present the facilities and services available for the media at the Youth Olympic Games, such as the Main Media Centre, venues, Youth Olympic Village, transport, photo operations, the Opening Ceremony, filming in the venues and Village Square, and other topics. There will be interview opportunities with: 83 Young Change-Makers who have been mandated to promote the Games in their respective countries and support the athletes during Games time. Athlete Education Programme: part of the YOG allows athletes to enrich their YOG experience beyond the field of play.
