~Paul Gray The houses along the route to my cousin Bob's apartment slid by in a blur of bricks and shingles. Our trip seemed to take as long as my campaign to convince Mom to take Bob's cat. For two weeks, I tormented her with pleas and promises. "If we don't take the cat, she'll be put down. The superintendent told Bob to get rid of her, and Bob can't find anyone to take her. Please, can we take her? Bob will be so happy if we rescue his cat. I'll look after her. You'll love having a cat." "We might not be able to keep her," Dad said.
