👉 Fidelity Receives License for Crypto Custody and Trading

Fidelity Investments' digital asset arm has secured a licence from the New York Department of Financial Services, which will enable them to offer their custody and trading services within the state.

Known as Fidelity Digital Assets, the subsidiary was launched in October last year to cater to financial institutions looking to enter the cryptocurrency space.

👉 All Stablecoins Declared as Money Transmitters by FinCEN Director

The director of the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has declared that all stablecoins, regardless of their underlying mechanisms, are effectively money transmission services.

Under this label, stablecoin administrators are required to register as Money Services Businesses, and all firms dealing with them must follow federal KYC and AML laws.

👉 Central Bank of Japan is Researching Digital Currencies

The governor of Japan's central bank has announced that they are conducting research on digital currencies.

He stated that they have no plans to issue a digital currency, but they have not ruled out the option for the future.
