Top Stories for April 27, 2022 🔥 The Central African Republic has adopted Bitcoin as legal tender, making it just the second country in the world to do so after El Salvador. The country's president Faustin Archange Touadera signed a law for the move – as well as legalizing cryptocurrencies in general – after a unanimous parliamentary vote. The Central African republic does not issue its own national currency, instead using the CFA franc. Ethereum Layer-2 scaling platform Optimism will be distributing a governance token, according to the Optimism Foundation. The token will be distributed via several rounds of airdrops, including a retroactive airdrop for previous users of the platform. The new governance structure has been named the "Optimism Collective", which will be composed of a "Citizens’ House" and a "Token House". The former will distribute retroactive funding via fee revenue, and the latter will vote on protocol upgrades and incentives. Dragonfly Capital has successfully raised $650 million in capital for its third crypto fund – now managing a total of around $3 billion in assets under management. The new fund will focus on all stages of crypto and blockchain-focused companies, with an emphasis on leading rounds in later-stage businesses. |
