The Sichuan government is moving to shut down 26 Bitcoin mining farms which draw their power supply from state-owned power plants.
According to a document circulating on popular Chinese messaging app WeChat, government agencies are cutting power to the 26 farms. This will then be followed by inspections of power networks to detect and shut down further mining facilities.
Grayscale has is currently reviewing 13 new cryptocurrencies which may be added to its suite of altcoin investment trust products.
The cryptocurrencies under review appear to have a heavy focus on decentralized finance (DeFi), including tokens such as Bancor (BNT), Curve (CRV), 0x (ZRX) and several others. Other blockchains and scaling solutions have also been considered.
The newly-assembled Bitcoin Mining Council has noted concerns regarding misinformation about Bitcoin's impact on the environment, with calls to provide an informative space for Bitcoin mining.
The council was formed by MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor and a handful of North American Bitcoin miners, who have also connected with Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk.
