Top Stories for June 3, 2022 🔥 The New York State Senate passed a bill this morning that imposes a two-year moratorium on new proof-of-work mining operations powered by carbon-based fuels. Existing mining firms and those undergoing the permit renewal process will be allowed to continue operations, however Senator Kevin Parker of Brooklyn claims that only one plant in current operation that would not be affected by the bill. Mining companies in New York have threatened to leave the state if the moratorium is passed – which now only requires a signature from Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul. FTX has launched FTX Japan, opening its services to Japanese customers following an acquisition of Quoine – an existing licensed exchange in the country founded in 2017. Quoine was part of a larger acquisition of Liquid Group in February of this year. Existing FTX customers in Japan will now be able to make deposits and withdrawals using the Japanese yen, as well as trade spot and derivatives markets. Solana is the first non-Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) network to integrate Chainlink price feeds, with multiple projects already committing to integrate the platform's oracles. Projects incorporating Chainlink price feeds include Francium, Tulip and Apricot Finance, with a cross-chain interoperability protocol on the way. The protocol will enable Solana developers to execute smart contracts across chains. |
