Chief Paul goes to Washington

On the heels of the 72nd homicide in Baton Rouge this year, BRPD Chief Murphy Paul joined President Joe Biden at the White House, where the commander-in-chief unveiled a plan to rein in the "merchants of death" who sell illegal guns and crack down on surging violence in big cities.

"This kind of coordination," Biden said, "is essential to keeping weapons out of the hands of criminals, fugitives and gangs, as well as organized crime."

Banned from Chili's

Remember the brawl that broke out at a local Chili's after a teen hostess tried to enforce the eatery's COVID rules? Well, two of the women who attacked her pleaded guilty on Wednesday and two others entered a pretrial diversion program for their role in what one prosecutor characterized as a "large fight."

All four accused assailants are banned from the fast-casual chain for the next year.

Meanwhile, three other women charged in the melee are due in court next month.

Coach search nears an end

LSU's close to selecting a new baseball coach. Reporter Wilson Alexander brings us the latest on the search.
