Breakfast host Sammy J wants to hear about the moments you’ve missed amid the coronavirus pandemic. And he’ll stop at nothing to recreate the best missing moments live on air. Renowned illustrator and artist Oslo Davis is also joining in the fun to create bespoke illustrations as mementos of the missed events.

On Thursday, we met Kylie.... 2020 was going to be Kylie’s best year ever. She planned to retire from her job as a French High School teacher, join a friend in Spain, and hike the Camino de Santiago before finishing with a Sound of Music tour in Austria. Then Covid-19 happened, and now she’s stuck at home like the rest of us.

Can Sammy J recreate her entire trip in the space of five minutes? Or will it be just as disappointing as the pandemic itself? 

Joan Baez is one of contemporary music’s true legends and an icon of the 1960s countercultural movement.

Her songs inspired a generation to believe that change is possible, and despite the political division that seems to be growing ever wider in the US, she still has hope. She spoke about this when she joined the team on The Friday Revue. 

Brian Nankervis has been lucky enough to interview some of his favourite musicians over the years on the program, but none who have been such a pivotal figure in music folklore as Joan Baez.

With Melbourne locked down and AFL matches being held in other states, our Grandstand team is temporarily unable to attend the games. 

We take a look inside the team's new commentary box - the ABC Southbank boardroom. As you enter, the team is sitting around a large table set up with technical equipment. Expert commentators Cameron Ling and Mick Malthouse are in the middle on opposite sides of the table, with Kelli Underwood and Alister Nicholson seated closest to the two large television screens, which are displaying live pictures from the ground.

Usually the team would be at the ground, inside a cramped commentary box, seated so closely they could tap each other on the shoulder to indicate the other person should take over the call. Now they point across the table. Calling a game from television footage comes with its challenges, but the Grandstand team is rolling with it.

On 15 August it will be 75 years since Japan surrendered, bringing about the end of WWII for Australians and marking what is now known as Victory in the Pacific Day (VP Day).

The Victorian Government is helping stage a series of virtual exhibitions, augmented reality experiences and a special online ceremony so that Victorians can mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II from home.

We’ll have a special Conversation Hour on the 14th and then Libbi Gorr will commemorate the day during her regular Saturday morning program. The National Service will be broadcast on ABC TV from 9.30am.
