At stake: Can the government dictate what an artistic professional creates?
  | Dear friend, We at Alliance Defending Freedom have great news to share! Today, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear 303 Creative v. Elenis, providing an opportunity for the Court to decide whether Lorie Smith and other artists have creative freedom or instead can be compelled to create and speak the government's message. Colorado state officials have attempted to require artists like Lorie to design and publish messages that would violate her religious beliefs, which are protected by the First Amendment. So she joined with Alliance Defending Freedom to challenge the law in court. Now, after several years of legal struggles, the U.S. Supreme Court will have a chance to set things right and uphold the God-given, constitutionally-protected rights of creative professionals, including Lorie Smith. A win for Lorie will protect freedom of speech for her and many other Americans. Cases like this that go all the way to our nation's highest court can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Alliance Defending Freedom doesn't charge our clients a dime for legal services, and instead relies upon the generosity of people like you. Will you help support Lorie's continued battle to preserve her freedom? Consider giving your best gift to help ensure Lorie and ADF have all the resources they need to present an effective case to the U.S. Supreme Court this year. For freedom of conscience, Alliance Defending Freedom  |
