New Covid cases in Scotland 'worryingly high'

More than 2,000 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Scotland in the last 24 hours, sparking concern from the First Minister.

Nicola Sturgeon is urging people not to visit others' homes as the new Covid-19 variant continues to spread rapidly.

Millions tune in to virtual Hogmanay

Three million people from more than 50 countries around the world tuned in to watch Edinburgh's Hogmanay film online last night. 

Drone displays took to the skies above the Capital's landmarks in the 15-minute film accompanied by a moving new poem read by Scottish stars.

Police break up gathering with hundreds of people

While most people stayed at home on Hogmanay to curb the spread of coronavirus, there were some who were not so careful. 

Last night police had to break up a gathering which saw hundreds of people take to Calton Hill and Edinburgh Castle to celebrate the New Year arriving.
