The U.S. economy lost 33,000 jobs in September, heavily missing expectations for an increase of 90,000 jobs, following two major hurricanes during the month. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.2% from 4.4%, while the labor force participation rate increased to 63.1% from 62.9% during the month. Average hourly earnings meanwhile increased by five-tenths of a percent.
