The Labor Department reports the U.S. economy added 156,000 jobs in September, below expectations for 175,000 jobs. The unemployment rate rose to 5.0%. The rate was expected to be unchanged at 4.9%. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate rose a tick to 62.9%.
