Members of the United Auto Workers union walked off the job at midnight after failing to reach agreements on a new contract with Ford, General Motors and Chrysler maker Stellantis. UAW President Shawn Fain said the work stoppages were underway at three plants: a GM site in Wentzville, Missouri; a Stellantis center in Toledo, Ohio; and a Ford assembly location in Wayne, Michigan.
