Situational Analysis | Nov. 4, 2024 It's Monday and National Easy-Bake Oven Day. Election Day is tomorrow. Ballots must be postmarked today, or you can drop them in a dropbox or deliver them in person tomorrow. What you need to know Rep. Brady Brammer won the special election for Senate District 21, to replace current Sen. Mike Kennedy, who is expected to win the 3rd Congressional race on Tuesday. Before the delegates cast their ballots, Brammer highlighted his time in the House cutting taxes, fighting for public land control, advocating for secure elections and his ability to "hit the ground running." The state Senate district contains most of northern Utah County including Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Highland, Pleasant Grove, Lindon and portions of Provo. Ipson is sponsoring a bill during the 2025 General Session to strengthen penalties for child torture. This proposed legislation would make child torture a standalone crime, escalating it from a second-degree felony to a first-degree felony and imposing a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.
