The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

Good day.

Baton Rouge moved closer to having another record year for homicides. This morning the body of a man was found in a house along Hyacinth Avenue near the Mayfair neighborhood. This past weekend, East Baton Rouge was at 111 homicides for the year, just behind the record mark of 114 set last year.

My former AP colleague Sean Murphy parachuted into Shreveport (this is figurative among journalists, not literal) and looked at the number of Texas women traveling to Louisiana for abortions. It's a very interesting read and I'm happy to give a plug to an old friend.

As LSU's football fortunes wane, there's another knock on the Tigers' bowl chances. Here you go.

And don't miss this: Today we launch our new "Where to Go, What to Eat BR" newsletter. Get all the foodie news, best recipes and a rundown of events in the area when you sign up here.

Yep, it's a way to get more email from us, but it will lead to a good meal, so that's good.
