Good evening

If you need a big problem sorting pronto, call for the Army.

The fine folk from our Armed Forces are used to dealing with all kinds of incidents, from insurgence to bridge building, so when you really need a pal, find one wearing a uniform.

And so the Prime Minister has turned to them to give the national vaccination programme a super-powered boost - and to try to fulfil his aim of getting the most vulnerable people in the country vaccinated by the middle of February, a tall order under any circumstances.

The Ministry of Defence will help with the distribution and administration of vaccines, after already being brought into Wales to help out there and running the testing centres in Liverpool which saw cases fall almost instantly.

It is not an exaggeration to say that we are in a race against the virus and at the moment it is well ahead of us. So, it is all hands on deck if we want to stop the rapidly rising case numbers to end in more deaths.

The Army could be considered the nearest we get to the cavalry arriving ... better late than never.
