Halted by coronavirus, then a tornado, BorgWarner returns

 Duke grant expands tech school line worker programs

The S.C. Technical College System Foundation is expanding training opportunities for utility line workers using the last of a $1 million Duke Energy grant. Tri-county Technical College launched their first power line worker program last fall through previous endowments.

First Steps grant extends childcare access in Spartanburg

A white historical building in need of repair in Kershaw will be converted to a community center housing First Steps classes.South Carolina’s First Steps program has awarded grants totaling $900,000 to convert public facilities into pre-school learning centers to Spartanburg’s Highland Community Partnership and the town of Kershaw Partnership. Spartanburg’s $300,000 grant was gifted to the Bethlehem Center in Spartanburg at a press conference May 20.

Majority of small businesses receive PPP funding

Almost 90% of the members of the small business advocacy group National Federation of Independent Business received funding from the Paycheck Protection Program, according to a recent survey

More than $14.5M in infrastructure grants awarded

More than $14.5 million in grants have been awarded to 34 S.C. projects focusing on water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure by the S.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority. Awards include $360,000 to the city of Greenville and $500,000 to Fountain Inn for sewer system improvements.
