Also: Saints welcome back Mark Ingram
By Bob Warren Uh, that’s billion. With a 'B'. That New Orleans-based Lucid has been sold for more than $1 billion is big news. But what it means for the city’s nascent tech sector could wind up being the bigger story, business leaders and industry watchers say. Tony McAuley explains how this "unicorn" could usher in much bigger things. Lucid wasn’t the only company making waves this week. Brothers Food Mart (if you haven’t tried their fried chicken, do so today…) will triple in size following its sale, Liam Pierce reports. Tents from Bonnaroo: In the days after Hurricane Ida, a number of silver-gray tents began popping up in homeless encampments around the city. Doug MacCash reports that the tents were donated by the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee, which itself had been canceled due to heavy rain from Ida as the storm made its way across the southeast. Cause and effect: A little more on LSU parting ways with football coach Ed Orgeron. Though the coach was named as a defendant in a sex discrimination suit filed against the university, officials say that didn’t play a role in Orgeron’s dismissal. Andrea Gallo explores why. Welcome back: And there’s no way we can let this Saints story pass without a mention. Welcome back to the Black and Gold Mark Ingram. He’s coming back via a trade with the Houston Texans, Amie Just writes. And here's columnist Rod Walker's take. Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today. BW |
