The project was commissioned in December 2014 and has exceeded savings expectations for natural gas with a load reduction of roughly 5,000 GJ. As a result, Vancity head office has slashed its natural gas consumption by 95%, with an overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 75%.

Cold snap increases electricity use across B.C.

The District of North Vancouver (DNV) is creating a Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP) in an effort to define energy use and reduce overall emission rates. Last spring, BC Hydro and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) provided funding to support the creation of the plan, for which Municipal Hall hosted a forum on Feb. 15 to generate ideas and gather feedback from the community.
