These retail leaders will discuss shopping habits, supply chains, IPOs and more
Hi, It’s a pivotal time in the convergence of digital and retail. So we’re thrilled to welcome two digital commerce visionaries to Code Commerce this fall. Four years ago, Blue Apron dramatically reenvisioned the farm-to-dinner-table supply chain. Now Blue Apron Co-Founder and CEO Matt Salzberg is gearing up for an IPO, and we’re excited to hear about what’s next. Also on the speaker docket is Kirsten Green of Forerunner Ventures, who will share her insights into the future of shopping and what brands need to do to stay ahead. An investor in Warby Parker, Dollar Shave Club, Jet.com, Outdoor Voices and Glossier, Green has many ideas around how customer experiences will evolve. Matt Salzberg founded Blue Apron after having a simple thought: Home-cooked meals are great, but buying all the groceries necessary is a hassle and often wasteful. Blue Apron’s pioneering innovation was to cut out the middlemen and streamline supply-chain inefficiencies by partnering directly with local farmers. But marketing costs are rising as the company is headed toward an IPO, so we’ll ask Salzberg how turning podcast hosts into an army of brand ambassadors is working out for Blue Apron. So far, 2017 has been a big year for Kirsten Green. Following her high-profile returns on investments in Dollar Shave Club and Jet.com, she was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World 2017, and is part of Forbes’ 2017 Midas List, in addition to being named in the magazine’s roundup of “Top Women Investors in VC.” With a majority-female investing team at Forerunner Ventures — a rarity in Silicon Valley — Green now has her sights set on transforming the retail space wholesale through strategic investments in customer-focused, digital-first brands. Green will present details on what the retail landscape will look like five years from now.
Green and Salzberg are the first speakers in a diverse lineup of traditional retail, finance and e-commerce pioneers coming to Code Commerce. During our two-day event, you’ll hear from the entrepreneurs and executives disrupting the brick-and-mortar model, network with your peers and get insight to bring to your own company.
