Active substance can no longer be used in biocidal products in NI. We have recently been made aware that the European Union (EU) have amended the status of the listed active substance/product type combination. It has been changed from ârenewal in progressâ to expired under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR) as of the following date. The EU BPR continues to apply in NI. This change affects NI: 31 January 2025 - 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2,6- difluorobenzoyl)urea (diflubenzuron) (CAS 35367-38-5 EC 252-529-3) in product type 18
The active substance can no longer be used in biocidal products of the relevant product type in NI. In addition articles treated with such products can no longer be placed on the market in NI. There are no applicable phase out periods. HSE is not aware of any affected EU BPR product authorisations or Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR) product approvals in NI. If you are aware of any disproportionate negative impacts that are likely to arise from the expiry of the active substance/product type combination listed, please contact us. Take action to keep your active substance in the EU Review Programme. The active substance/product type combination listed has been successfully notified into the EU Review Programme following an open invitation. The next step is for a full active substance dossier to be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by the following deadline. Only the person, company or task force/consortium that successfully notified the active substance/product type combination listed can submit a dossier. If this active substance/product type combination is important to you, consider contacting the notifier to let them know. You may even be able to join them in supporting the active substance. Check the ECHA list of notifications If a dossier is not submitted by the deadline, this active substance/product type combination will be subject to an EU non-approval decision. This means the active substance will no longer be able to be used in biocidal products of the relevant product type in NI. In addition articles treated with such products will no longer be able to be placed on the market in NI. HSE will provide separate updates on these where relevant. |
