Encampment crackdown fails: A pair of bills targeting homeless encampments in Louisiana failed to come up for final votes during the legislative session, following backlash from critics who argued that punishing homelessness is inhumane and ineffective. Trouble in Oshun: A battle for control of the Krewe of Oshun is headed to court. According to the latest reporting from Doug MacCash, the struggling organization was granted a temporary restraining order against a Mardi Gras float builder who is owed thousands for producing Oshun's 2025 procession.
'Ban the box': The city plans to strengthen its 2018 “ban the box” policy, which prevents city agencies and some private employers from requiring job applicants to disclose past felony convictions on applications. Joni Hess and Courtney Lucius have the details.
