An advocate for children: Louisiana is out of step with other states when it comes to protecting its vulnerable children, and a proposed law before the state legislature aims to change that. State Senator Regina Barrow and a host of co-authors are proposing an Office of the Child Advocate, which would field complaints from children in state custody and prepare reports on state agencies in charge of them. Andrea Gallo has the story. The man in the middle: The legislative session is reaching a climactic moment on its most important issue: whether to spend an unprecedented amount of money in the treasury to fix roads, repair university buildings and restore the eroding coast. Tyler Bridges has a look at the lawmaker central to that decision. Another mother killed: Another New Orleans mother was shot and killed in front of her child Saturday night, the fifth mother to be slain in as many weeks. Three others were injured in a shooting that had children running for cover. Missy Wilkinson has the story. Thank you for starting your week with Morning Headlines.
