Good evening

Thank goodness it's Friday!

Now despite the feeling of freedom in our sights, and talk of an early end to restrictions, the reality is that Covid infection rates are up.

The latest reported number of infections in Lancashire is 107,241, according to figures reported today by Public Health England (PHE).

Hospitals are also reporting more patients with the virus again.

There are currently 388 people in the region’s hospitals who are being treated for COVID-19, including 79 on ventilation.

PHE said case rates in England among all age groups are continuing to rise and the highest rate is among 20 to 29-year-olds, with 195.9 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to June 13, up week-on-week from 123.6.

But the good news is now the Government is actively encouraging everyone aged 18 and above to get vaccinated and here the push is on to get as many done as possible this weekend.

Please check out our story about vaccine clinics - you are now able to attend certain centres as walk-ins without an appointment.

Alternatively, you can book a spot online.

Let’s get this thing done and get our lives back.

Have a great weekend and for all those dads out there - Happy Father's Day for Sunday.
