It was almost two years ago now that I sent my friend Kathleen an email that sparked the creation of the next chapter of our professional and creative lives. Being Boss, our podcast for creative entrepreneurs, released it's 100th episode this week. In our two years of doing something new, we've grown in ways we never expected. We have explored what it means to be boss, between ourselves and with a wide array of very boss guests. We've talked to authors, illustrators, witches, stylists, artists, marketers, and more. They're each boss in their own way, and we've found that to be one of the keys to being boss. Being boss is about playing by your own rules, defining success on your own terms, and doing the work you have to do to get there. But you also have to own who you are and love what you do. I never anticipated that Being Boss would grow into what it is becoming, and that it would grow me into who I am becoming. This isn't just a journey for our listeners, who are launching businesses, making things, and bringing their own art to life, it's also a journey for me and Kathleen. With every episode, Kathleen and I grow even more boss, too. If you had told me even 3 years ago that I would not be building a web design studio, but instead a podcast, community (including a Facebook group almost 19,000 strong), and business model around coaching creatives in building their own businesses (both online and in-person), I'd have probably laughed a little too hard. And I think that's one of the most powerful lessons that I've learned from creating this thing. You never know. You can go in with intentions and desires, but you'll never know the outcome, the medium, or the growth you'll endure. You can only trust the process, stay open to the possibilities, show up, and do the work. Define whatever this means for you, and be boss. Cheers to Kathleen, our team, and our tribe of bosses for 100 episodes. Here's to 100 more and beyond. đ» Listen to episode 100 here >> |
